I swapped an EMG 40P5 for a SD NYC-5 pickup in my Steinberger Synapse. The NYC is a split coil, and I'd like serial, parallel, and single coil options.
I've seen this done with a DPDT on-on-on switch, and would be happy with that.
The existing preamp is custom to this bass, with 4 pots mounted on a PCB, and with a blend knob for mixing the mag p/I with a dual under-saddle piezo. I'd like to preserve all that, and am curious if I can avoid modifying the front of the bass.
Which made me wonder if there are similarly capable switches that can be hidden on/in the bass somewhere? I don't see me changing the switch often, but do want the option.
In a perfect world, I would replace the preamp with a dual piezo preamp + mag preamp, a stacked 2-band eq, p/u selector switch, blend, and volume to fill the 4 holes available. I just don't see any small dual piezo preamps available.
