pickup selector switch on a jazz?

has anyone ever put a pickup selector switch(like what you would see on a ric four-thousand series or les paul guitar)

its just a quick idea im considering on my cheap jazz bass copy.

I had a volume pot die on my Jazz. Since I mostly use the neck PU, I had a micro 3 way installed. I like having it. May not be your cup of tea since you loose the tone palate of mixing the PU, but that wasn't an issue for me.

I've had it done to two basses, a Peavey Palaedium and a Karl Hoyt. One had a blend knob and the other had two volumes. While some could hear the incremental differences what worked for me one pickup, the other or both blended evenly.

It worked great in both cases and wouldn't hesitate to do it again.
