pickups for 78 jazz

Hi there.
Just bought a 1978 jazz cheap.. ...with no electrics and pickups...and i am searching for aftermarket pickups with fenderish 70 vibe..
I have also 2 other jazzes, 81 and 82 (lighter ones) with fender pickups but dont want to mess with original solderings..
Any suggestions? its a heavy ash maple 11.5 lbs

I may be a bit confused on your post. What do the '81 and '82 Jazz Basses have to do with the '78 Jazz Bass's pickup situation? Are you trying to find pickups for your '78 that are similar in tone to the other two basses, or are you considering taking pickups out of one of those basses to put into the '78....without messing with "original solderings"?

Also, what does the "lighter ones" statement mean? Is this a reference to the weight of the basses, or does it have something to do with how you are assessing their tones?

.lighters ones weight less, . They are both 10.4 lbs.
I think that early 80s grey bottom pickups have same tone with late 70s..These 2 jazzes are 3 bolts, block inlays with 1978 serial and early 80 pickups from transition era(78-82).. original frets, case etc, sο i leave them alone.
I bought this 78 because its heavy and produce solid tone..a vintage fender 70s pickup will be ideal, but dont want to spend big money..

I'm not sure what the weights, 3-bolt necks, fret condition, case situation, and inlays of the 80's basses have to do with the tonal needs for your '78 (?). In any event, there are many good choices by Seymour Duncan, Nordstrand, and DiMarzio that can get you in the ballpark of the tone of stock 70's pickups.

yes they have .., because that 81 fender pickups maybe are closer to late 70s than anything else in the market..
And if that is true, i will pull the guts out and shag the solderings.
Thats the reason i am asking opinions from users...English is not my language ..maybe i have a little communication problem
