I've read that when a person is hanged by the neck until dead, it's not uncommon for them to defecate. This jet seems to have also read this.

Amazing photography also, those are what could be called "money shots".

well one fewer it would seem.....funding the military has been a low priority here for a long time......it costs a lot to house,feed,doctor,transport,educate,entertain..... those that can't be bothered to work....

I'm glad that the pilot cleared the fireball, even if only barely. I wish Capt. Bews a fast and complete recovery.

By looking at the video, it looks like the pilot simply stalled it but trying a low level, low speed fly by. Human error looks like the root cause. Congrats to the pilot for dumping it in an open spot and getting out "just in time."

i know the government bought 4 leaky submarines from the brits that took forever to bring up to seaworthiness,and when the fleet of 40 year old sea king helicopters needed replacing a new government cancelled the order for the new birds forfeiting a deposit of some 600 million.....

Also, it is a good thing that it was just an F-18. Nothing of value was lost, really, because the pilot survived.

I doubt it was a pilot induced slow speed stall as most folks who stall at that height do not get out, so I'm thinking he had engine/s issues.

From the video it looked like he was at the point of his high alpha pass where he would have been applying throttles to climb out at the end point. It looks like he also increased alpha at that point as is the norm. If there was no increase in engine power there was no way out and the aircraft stalled. There would have been no pilot involvement at all as to where it ended up. As soon as the aircraft starts to turn it is out of control. However the fact that he was able to eject indicates to me that he was on top of the issue/s and again points to engine issues not flying skills!
