I recently got one of these

[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

It's in the shop now getting a Badass II bridge installed and a set-up. I think the plain white pickguard looks kind of well, plain. I am looking for suggestions and/or pics of what color of pickguard I should put on my new P. I kind of like the look of the Deluxe P bass Special which is the same body color but with a gold anodized pickguard, but I hate the feel of those aluminum guards and I think they somehow affect the sound for the worse. Give me some suggestions. Help me "pimp my P"!

I think that a white perloid is the only way to go on this one. A black guard will make it look like a Squire, a tortoise will looks just wrong, and gold anodized. . . not really matching.

I nice white, cream or vintage perloid will look suppa!

Get matching pickup covers, and you'll be pimpin' in style.

Does anybody know if this will be a direct replacement? Both the current p/g and this one have 13 holes. Maybe I'll get lucky...
More than likely, they won't be. Even with the same number of holes, they're made using different templates.

Your best bet would be to remove your pickguard and send either it (or a tracing of it) to a pickguard maker to copy for you.

That sounds pricey. I may just leave it stock and get an ITALY 2006 WORLD CUP sticker for that matter. (I can fend off any headbuts with 8 pounds of alder). The stock p/g is not stark white like most MIM. It's kind of vintagey.

I'd go for either a black pearloid or silver pearloid. In fact, that's exactly what I did with my Inca Silver Lakland 5501. Google for Jennies Pickguards. They made mine for $30 or $40. It was a while ago, so I can't remember exactly how much.
