I prefer the New York style over Chicago style, deep dishes are okay sometimes. The best New York style pizza I've ever had was at this place I stumbled upon in Athens, GA. The name escapes me, but it was this little hole in the wall run by guys who were clearly from New York. Looked a little dumpy, but the pizza was fantastic.

I'm not actually biased I just never had a Pan Pizza that was any good. The only place I know in NY for Pan Pizza is the chain Pizzeria Uno which is sort of a travesty.
