Everything seems to be on Facebook Marketplace these days. There is much less on Craiglist and few people seem to browse there anymore. I don't like how FB marketplace works but that's where the eyeballs are.
Don't forget to check the Guitar Center used listings online. You can order from any store and return to any GC. Sometimes there are decent deals there.
It's tough with cabs because they are too big to ship and most of the used ones I see listed are not desirable (too big for today's needs, very heavy, etc)

I bought a used from Guitar Center, good shipping prices, plus if I don’t like it or it doesn’t sound right, I can take it back, no questions asked.
Unless you fully trust the private seller, go with a source that has a return policy. I see too many issues popping-up after the fact with little or no recourse.

I've been bitten hard by this. When I buy from a private seller I try to evaluate the bass or amp thoroughly. But in the moment at some strangers house while they're yapping in your ear and you find yourself petting the dog or cat it can be easy to miss something.
I use GC to try out used guitars and have bought a bunch of stuff from them. They will take back basically anything within 45 days *used*. They have even given me back the cost of shipping when the items was already damaged or not described accurately (bad truss rod)
Another +1 for Guitar Center. The ease of dealing with them on used gear is the only good about them anymore. Sam Ash is another good one, they usually have free shipping, but smaller inventory. Music Go Round is expensive on shipping and more of a hassle on returns.

guitar center lol some one F ing stole a 8x10 for like $75 i'm pissed cause i had my eye on that like 6 months back and settled on a 1x15 as a pitty buy
Try asking other band members in your circle. I usually mention to my non-bass player friends what I am trying to move in case they know someone who is looking for an item. I am sure you know a person who knows a person who has some stuff to move that doesn't necessarily want to sell it on their own or deal with the loss from store selling.

I picked up a Behringer 4224 mixer in excellent condition off FB Marketplace the other day for $40, about 1/10 of the new price.
Sometimes people are just looking to get rid of things and want it out the door. You just have to be available and willing to pursue it when you see it.

My foraging for used gear (including cabs) goes back many years. All the way to the days of bassgear.com and Harmony Central.
These days I get cabs primarily off of the GC used site, Reverb, and right here at Talkbass.
GC is a great option. Best return and shipping policy of any.

I’ve had good experience with my local craigslist and Guitar Center has been very good to me on used gear. If you can be patient and search their site a couple of times a day you can often score what you need. And I mean patient. I kept on GC for a few weeks straight looking for an Orange Terror Bass head for a price I liked and saw a bunch come and go which were priced too high for me, then the cheaper one showed up and I grabbed it. Perfect condition.
I do wonder how they evaluate the condition of their used stuff. Some is marked excellent and I can see cosmetic issues even on their crappy web pics, others they call good and are nearly perfect.
I got that head and two matching OBC112 cabs the same way and I paid so little for the whole kit.
I’ve done it for other gear and have never been questioned when I bring it back w/in 30 days.
I delayed on the rare Mesa Subway 1x15 twice and both times I was a little too late and missed out. Same for a Stingray Special I really had my eye on and was hoping the price would drop one more time. Nope.
Don’t be afraid to call the store with the used gear and ask for better photos either. Never been refused on that.

Agreed. I'll put in my 2 cents. I got four of my favorite cabs used from Guitar Center. They were older models and priced very well. And a couple of very nice basses and a vintage Music Man amp that's in great shape. I've also returned several basses, amps and cabs that either weren't what I was hoping for or defective in some way. The staff has always accepted the returns without any hesitation or judgement. It's a process, but it's been fruitful.
