With social distancing mostly still in effect here my band has decided to keep busy by playing free outdoor gigs in the place of our usual Saturday morning practices. We do these gigs outdoors and socially distanced from each other. Both our guitarists play acoustic guitars and backup vocals come from two Fishman mini amps. I use a Rumble 40 bass amp and sing through a Roland Cube Street, while our drummer plays a Cajon. We did a Facebook Live show this way two weeks ago that went extremely well so after that we decided that we would do free gigs for nursing homes etc. and also play for each of our neighborhoods.
Yesterday we did our first neighborhood gig, playing on my front yard for all of my neighbors, who up until this week were only vaguely aware that I played guitar or something in some sort of band. I live at the end of a quiet crescent with a big turning circle so some people set up there with lawn chairs while others listened while doing yard work. It was a small, but enthusiastic audience
.
It was a beautiful day, we had a blast and everyone loved it. We even did 3 encores LOL! Really broke up the monotony on our street. One couple told us it was the most fund they'd had in months.
Here's a little video my wife shot of us playing a request for 'Shine' by Mondo Cozmo.
