Played a SUB Ray4 and loved it!

Have owned mine for 5-6 years now. No problems with the tuners. Bridge is fine. I did toss the original electronics and put a full active EMG package in and it kills. Just did a gig with mine last weekend. I plan to get another.

I have had one for about 3 years. Tuners stripped into 6 months of owning it. Replaced easily with Hipshot Ultralites. Funny how some of us have had problems. I also had one of the older models that had the wonky volume issue couple with a preamp that was too hot. Replaced pickup and electronics with EMG. Bass kicks ass now. I understand they addressed the subpar electronics on the new models?

Mine had the wonky volume and hot preamp issue too. I installed a Nordy 2-band pre and it fixed both issues beautifully, plus now it sounds even better than it did.

Mine had the volume issue and I did the mod but the whole system was just too hot. So I just trashed the stock electronics for the EMG setup. Much better. I still had to drop the pickup down almost flush to the body.

Which preamp did you go with? I'm kind of an EMG fan so if I end up with one I might look into this. And did you keep it 9v?
EMG BTC (Vol/Treb/Bass). Pickup is the EMG MMcs. Found the entire setup for sale here on Talkbass for $60. I'm almost sure my tech made it 18v adding a battery under the pickguard. Not sure. Will have to ask him. LOL

What bass do you use to get those tones?
A 89 Warwick Streamer NT, gets pretty much identical to the black album tone
My Ibanez BTB 1605e gets a ...And justice for all tone
My Schecter Johnny Christ gets a 10,000 days tone
I typically don't typically like MM pickups and prefer single coils but the schecter with guitar pickup adds alot!
