I don't have a stereo at my apt right now, but I do have my ampeg pf-350 and swr 4x10. I was wondering if it would hurt the amp to run my laptop through it so I can play CDs and such. Obviously I wouldn't be cranking it too loud, I guess I was just wondering more about the effect of the high end on the cab. Has anyone tried it?

Sure. It usually doesn't sound all that great, but it can be done, and who knows? You might actually like it.
Bass rigs can be more full range than you might think. There is nothing in the high end that will damage your rig. Like JimmyM said, it might not sound awesome (or maybe it will), but you shouldn't be afraid to crank it if you want to.
I've done it. But the sound is radically different from what is projected through a standard Hi Fi stereo system. It's also subject to the coloration imposed by your amp and cab.
I've used a Markbass combo amp to play back ambient music (using Ableton Live) at an art exhibition some time ago. Worked actually really well but then MarkBass gear is excellent.
