Playstation 2 question

Is there a way to clean Playstation 2s when they start misreading discs, like CD players?

You could try blowing into the disc drive to see if that clears dust off the laser. If not, you can get them repaired fairly cheaply.

Yes but this is very delicate. Not hard though and you wont screw it over as long as your careful. Ill tell you what you need to do and Ill save you a lot of $$. I first need to know if we are talking about the 1st generation PS2 or the new flatter version.

my friends wouldn't read anything...then BAM it caught on fire! seriously. Now he bought a slim.It works just fine.

Fixed it. Took it apart and cleaned it out.

Execellent I have 1st gen as well. All you do is get 2 screw drivers, 1 to undo the screws on the bottom and 1 very very small one to undo very small screws. ALl you do then is undo the screws at the bottom and take off the top (beware not to pull too hard or you may take out the electric tap to start the machine. Putting the ribbon back in its hole is very difficult so open slowley and carefully. Then undo the super tiny screws over the laser eye. Use a a q-tip and rubbing alchohol to clean it carefully. Then put it back together and youll be right as rain.
