Hello,
First time posting here...
I currently use an Ampeg B2R for my live rig, but have been wanting something more powerful to afford some extra headroom. I have an opportunity to pick up a used Sunn 1200s, and was wondering if this amp would be a good choice to drive one Ampeg 410he cab.
Eventually, I'd like the flexible option of being able to add another 410 or 115 to pair it up with. But for small club shows, I like the idea of bringing just the one 410he. I can't find any specs on what the power rating is for the 1200s amp under an 8 ohm load. The only specs are 1200 watts at 2 ohms. My particular 410 is the older one (pre-Speakon), and I believe it is rated at 200 watts RMS. The Sunn seems like it would be an awesome amp, but I'm wondering if it may be too powerful for just one 410 cab. Of course, watching my volume and/or adding a peak limiter to the signal chain might also be a solution.
In any case, any input on this set-up would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
