Please help! I know nothing about amps...

Hi guys i'm new here and could really use some help choosing an amp. The most i can spend right now is $500. Right know i have a 100 watt combo amp and just want better tone and more power for playing with a band.

Here are some i'm looking at...

If you guys have any opinions on these amps or any other options in this price range please let me know. I really don't know much at all about amps so any help is appreciated.

Thanks alot
Anthony

Your dollar will go farther here:

Used market has a lot more choices available to you for that kind of money. New can be very pricey, and cheap new is well, cheap. I would suggest you visit some of your local shops and bring your bass. Play through as much gear as you can to figure out what you like. Once you have some idea of what you want, start browsing the classifieds. It's a bit of work, but it's worth it. I put together an awesome Mesa/Boogie stack (400+ head, 410 and 115 cabs) for way less than half what I would have paid new through craigslist and TalkBASS.

I like buying from the talkbass classifieds. Just got a cab a few days ago and my number one and number two bass came from talkbass members.
Here is a head in the classifieds for $275 that is 500 watts

cabs are usually heavy to ship so keep an eye out on craigslist. Look out for Avatar cabs. Lots of love for them on this forum. They are a great for the price. Check out there website and keep an eye out on there scratch and dent page.

i'll second buying from guys here. i've had great experiences.

but, based on my bias, if you're going to go new i would go with one of the new gallien-krueger combos. you can get a 200 watt 115 combo for 399 (if memory is correct) or a 500 watt 210 combo for 599. it's more than your budget but i think it'd be worth it.

i've never played through acoustic stuff but they seem to have a good reputation here for a good sound out of an amp for a great price.

good luck in the tone search.

Personally, I like the acoustic amplifiers. So, I would say you should get either one of those. And if you get the 4x10 then you should later on get 1x15 or vice versa. At least that's my setup. Once again that's just my opinion.
