Please help me identify this one

Hi,
As you can see, it's Gene Simmons of KISS on the cover of Crazy Nights, wielding one of the sweetest axes i've ever seen. But i can't seem to figure out what kind of bass it is. Can anybody help me with a brand name? model? year? anything?

I really gotta get me one of those, so please be helpful :)

didn't get that littel detail :)

anyways, those things are pricy... i kinda just wanted one, because of the SWEET looks. Anyone knows if they're any good?.. according to the website, they are available with J/J, P/P or J/P pickups.. but does pedulla make nice pickups?

yeah. after searching around for a bit, i found some MVPs at about 3500-4000 $

That's pretty pricy, so i guess they're hotter than hell (you gotta quote kiss sometimes :smug:), but i just want to know peoples experiences with them. I checked out the link posted by zimmerman, and it sure looks like people are really fond of their Pedullas. But i gotta save up some money for one :) and it's probably gonna be more than 4000 $, since i'll be having it shipped to Denmark :)

I vaguely recall seeing the vids and probably have that album somewhere. Yup, Pedulla. I don't know if the Barts are custom or not, although it's probably the only Pedulla I've seen with just a P pickup.

If you're looking to imitate Gene's tone, just grab a PJ bass and a pick. Since the mid 80's he's been using active Barts and EMGs, but very few of his basses have had active EQ.

well. i'm not really trying to imitate Gene's tone. I just really like the design of the Pedulla MVP. If there's one tone i'd want to imitate, it'd be Phil Lynott's. He had the sweetest tone ever, but i have no clue as to which p-ups he used, which amps, effects, settings... so if you have any information on that subject, i'd love to hear all of it, down to the tinyest nerdy details :P

He is definitely a Precision guy.

Yeah. you're right :) He used that sweet fender precision in black with maple fretboard and the chrome pickguard, but did that one have stock pickups? since the stock pickguard was switched with a chrome version, he might as well have done something to the pickups too. :)

And what about his amps? cause when you see lizzy live, they always have huge walls of marshalls for scott, gary, john etc., but you never see the bass amps
