I'm interested in creating some simple youtube bass cover videos. Nothing fancy. So, I bought IRig to use with my PC for recording purposes. I downloaded Amplitube3 to mix the recordings. The problem is that I am having a HELLUVA time getting a decent sound out of my bass. I didn't think it was too much to ask to plug my bass in and have it sound somewhat clean to start with, but I'm having to fumble around with all sorts of things to try to get it sounding OK. It has reverb, distortion (especially the low E string) and it just sounds bad. For what it's worth, my basses aren't especially "hot" so it's not like there is some massive signal going into the IRig that needs to be cut. I've essentially cranked down the input all the way and tried to turn off every effect I can, but I'm still not satisfied with the sound.
Again, I just want a clean sound to start off with and then I can tweak it a bit if I want. That doesn't seem like much to ask. I must be doing something wrong.
Can anyone please help point me in the right direction?
