Please help me

ok. i've narrowed down my choice to 2 basses, both second-hand and both are ard the same price and both are in near mint condition.

one is a g&l l-2500 mia. and the other one is a peavey cirrus. the cirrus has a flamed maple top, alder body,pau ferro fingerboard,Neck through.

i'm looking for versatility yet having a unique sound.

Both fine basses. Assuming all things are equal (price, condition, etc.) either will suit your needs. My advice is to spend a little time with each and choose the one that you feel more comfortable with.

i've played a G&L bass personally, and would love to have one, i have never played a peavey cirrus, so i can't really give you a good decision or i'd definately help out.

i am not gonna suggest one or the other. instead think about which bass suits your sonic needs ( pickups and electronics ect), then the next important question is which bass plays best. try them both and see which is most comfortable. my advice is to choose whatever one u are most comfy playing. i could make a suggestion but i am a different kinda bassist to you, everyone is. you should know best

G&L = aggressive, Cirrus = refined. Which do you need?

Go play both of them for as long as the sales guy will let you. Do this for three days. After enough time demoing them, you should be able to decide which one you like more.

but i was just wondering, is the alder body and maple top less sought after for the cirrus? cuz i've always heard abt bubinga or walnut only.

I voted G&L mostly because of my massive anti-peavey prejudice. I was forced to settle for a peavey amp in my youth and it scarred me for life But seriously, I know nothing about the Cirrus but I do have some confidence in a MIA G&L, but you should really pick the one that feels better to you.

Having owned a Peavey Cirrus and never played a G&L, it's a bit hard to vote... the Cirrus is a great bass, no problem at all.

However, I have a feeling that the G&L is the more traditional of the two, with the Cirrus being the more modern sounding cousin. Therefore, I vote G&L because I would believe that bass to be a more versatile bass.

But either way, you'll probably get a great bass that will serve you well for a long time!

I second those who say that you should sit down with both basses and try to decide which one you like most yourself.

The Cirrus is more like a boutique bass. Forget it has the Peavey name on it. It is a killer bass, but it is more like a boutique instrument and it's very versatile.

The G&L is a killer bass too. Both are too good in their own way to give you any advice towards one or the other. Play them both, and let each one convince you on their own.
