I take it that if a Modulus VJ bass was active, that there would be a battery plate on the back of the body - correct? Or do they put the battery under the control plate on the front? Also - does anybody own a passive VJ? If so, I'm sure it sounds drastically different then a VJ w/ active electronics.

I've seen some VJ's around but w/ no batt compartment so I've assumed they are passive. I'm just wondering what a passive VJ sounds like w/ EMG's in it.

    Any feedback would be appreciated!

It's under the pickguard... (at least on mine it is)

Mine is a 95. The battery fits under the chrome control plate. It barely fits. I have always wondered if it was upgraded before I bought it and wasn't professionally routed for a battery compartment.

Some of them were shipped with Bartolini PU's. Some active and some passive.
