According to Wiki, "irregardless" is a colloquialism originating in South Carolina or Indiana, and first appeared in print in the Charleston City Gazette and Daily Adviser in 1795.


Irregardless was first acknowledged in 1912 by the [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] as originating from western Indiana though the word was in use in South Carolina before Indiana became a territory. The usage dispute over irregardless was such that, in 1923, Literary Digest published an article titled "Is There Such a Word as Irregardless in the English Language?". The OED goes on to explain the word is primarily a North American colloquialism.

I usually don't correct someone the first time, but I will tell people if they keep using/spelling the word wrong.. so they wont be making a fool of themselves consistently. Definitely/Defiantly kills me every time.

OT: Ironically, Even though my profile pic contains a Marcus Miller bass, I didnt really have it very long, returned it to guitar center after the local tech said the neck was done for.. so I haven't played on a 70' position bass a whole lot, all my jazzes are/were 60s. I did love that 7.5" radius neck though, wish there were more models 70s spec.

All of mine are 60's position. I'm not sure I've ever tried one with 70's position. But 60's is working just fine for me right now...
