ported and sealed cabs

You'll notice that at 55 Hz (first and predominant overtone of my Hipshot when doing drop-A0) and above there is more output available, and less excursion limiting in the crucial midbass. Having used both tunings with such a cab for weeks, I can safely say that the 55 Hz tuning is more effective even for 5-string. And for synth bass? Well, at the point where that is being used heavily, it's time to go to a 3015LF in a cab with a dedicated midrange driver : }
For the most part +1 on all those conclusions. If you do go 3015LF you'll get a lot better result with a larger box than 3 cu ft, and conversely if you're restricted to 3 cu ft or less there's not much point in going 3015LF.
