Positive and Negative to 1/4" or XLR?

If anyone can recall those old speakers that had the only connection on the back that was a black and red clip thing that you'd put a wire under each for positive and negative, it'd would really help if anyone could tell me if I could get an adapter to make that line into a 1/4" or XLR.

The Speakers are JVC, model SP 7-WD, and the input looks similar to the one below, except it uses black and red things to hold the wire in place.

You could easily make up an adaptor for this, or even replace the back plate with something that has the right connector.

Basically for the 1/4" connector - you wire the sleeve or the cable shielding to the -ve and the tip or core of the cable to the +ve.

An XLR connection is actually faked so you can use a single type of cable on stage - normally XLR is for a balanced line between stage and mixer, or mixer and amps. Speakers don't use a balanced input, so you need to wire the ground and -ve together. For that you wire the XLR -ve pin and the XLR ground pin to the speaker -ve, and the XLR +ve pin to the speaker +ve.
