Post Your $100 Bass

Took me a while to decide on which £100 bass I'd post so I've went for 4 :thumbsup:

L+R

Squier TB body,Kmise neck,hand cut PG,2 saddle bridge. Pickup cover is a dummy,there's a super loud humbucker hidden under the plate :thumbsup:

Next 3 are all Harley Benton PB-50's, were £76 split new a few year back (£96 now).
The Paisley has 2 saddle bridge and a 51 split-coil hand wound by Jess Loueiro of Spain.Wired in series for standard P-bass tone,strung with ChromesI found doing a Paisley finish very hard going.
3rd for left sports 2 saddle bridge and an Alnico V hand wound by Martin Herrick from England.La Bella black nylon tapes.
4th is stock apart from TI jazz flats and an old Peavey super ferrite single coil.

$100 on SF Craigslist maybe 5 years ago - an early to mid sixties Kay hollow body with vintage rose wallpaper. One of a kind! Sounds sublime. Someone put Schaller tuners on it at some point. Affectionately known as the "Rose Bass"

It gets much worse than that... a couple months ago my dad found a Squier strat on the sidewalk next to a trashcan. The neck was pretty bowed and some frets were dinged up so he figured he could mess around and see what he could make of it. Darned if he didn't get that poor guitar in perfectly good order! I played it and aside from a couple scratches on the body it was as good as the new ones in the store. He did mess with it off and on for a couple weeks, but spent $0 on the darn thing. Best deal I've heard of so far, even if it is a bit off topic :)

Let's see, I picked up a Squier Strat for...er ..free. Really, it was posted on FB marketplace as free. It needed to have the pickups connected as the owner had began to mod it and gave up. It was an HSS but was missing one single coil, the humbucker was a Seymour Duncan pickup and one of the singles was from a US Fender.

Now in terms of basses, I picked up a Yamaha TRBX305 in mint condition, six month old for $75. Didn't think anyone would believe how much I paid for it, so I took a screenshot of the CL ad before I picked it up. The seller was pretty wealthy, wanted to try learning the bass and well, gave up.

Hey! The parameter of this thread is $100 basses, which is about £77 when exchanged. Oh... that's what you paid... Uh, er... :blackeye::help:
Really like the Paisley and the 4th one with the Super Ferrite. I love those pickups and I'm sure it's amazing sounding in a 51 type P setting!
I had a 2TSB Davison 51 P that I got for $75 years ago. It looked pretty much like the Harley Bentons with a different headstock which I reshaped to look more Tele like. Here it is paired with my '69 Strat and 2009 Border Collie mix.

Really liked it, but really needed a split coil P. So I ended up deconstructing it and swapping/selling parts until I ended up with my Partscision Bass. Sold the Davison neck for $75 and the body for $75 and purchased the loaded '51 Classic vibe neck for $100 and loaded Squier Dirnt body for $75. Broke even on the pickguard swap. I did end up swapping the stock bridge for a $40 Schaller, the original pickup for a $40 American Standard pickup with S-1 switch and the string tree for a Peavey triangle. Technically, it's still a sub $100 bass in it's original form, so I'll post it. :)

The seller said that half of the pickup didn't work, the body was decently scratched up, pots--but no knobs, 3 strings and the original guard was cut down to a control plate. It did have a straight neck with working truss rod and 85% condition frets, an older EMG P and Schaller 3D4 bridge in black and those awesome Hercules B tuners-all well worth the $80 on their own. This is how it looked after I got it home, restrung it, popped on some knobs and installed a battery (it didn't have one!) to find the EMG working perfectly. Played it like this for a few months.

Here it is after I got a black/red/black pickguard for it and installed an EMG BTS system. Rocked it like this for about a year.

And here is how it finally landed-a virtual T45 with a Peavey T series pickup, Peavey knobs and Peavey string tree. Volume, tone (pull for single coil) and Q filter. This is more unique both visually and tonally.
