here is my "workhorse in the making" My first 5'er a 2002 Fender Standard Jazz V. Used it exclusively on my Thursday and Saturday hits last week and I for see using it exclusively for many more. I can't believe I stayed away from 5's for so long!

How are the pickups in that bass? Thinking about buying MIM pickups to put in my squier jazz V

They are OK. I am sure like any stock item they could be improved. They are definitely not as hot as the PUP's in my 2008 4string Jazz, but those have the raised pole pieces on the A and D string plus they are., well a lot newer. I run my signal through a Hartke VXL Pre-amp box and compressor so it's not really an issue. I've never played the Squier V PUP's to side by side it either. Do you find issue with the tone of the Squier PUPS or the level. I will say they definitely still produce the unmistakable Fender Jazz growl and/or scoop.
