I'm confused by the 5-8 Timbre thread in that, while they're all labeled as bridge pickup only, #6 sounds completely different from that other 3 - and sounds very much like the last two samples - where both pickups are full on. Is it possible #6 is both pickups on? I can't imagine simply changing the volume pot from a 250k to a 500k - all else remaining the same - would result in THAT big of a difference. Additionally, 5, 7, & 8 all have that soloed bridge midrange quality, while #6 doesn't.

i guess what i meant is; are they as good a a full sized pot?What is a decent linear curve? The wafers used in pots are of linear taper. If you want a nonlinear curve, then you join multiple segments to approximate that curve. But if your desired taper is linear, then one segment approximates that curve exactly, because it is already linear.

Ended up grinding cavity out and putting the full sized stock 250k B (linear u suppose, hence the B designation) tone pot from the MIJ jazz in the Korean Squire P Vol position. Seems like the brittle ice picky high end is tamed a little. Will have to put new strings back on it to know for sure.. will try to report back.. thanx to yall'z, pthey'll do for volume.
also not sure what track resistance means? pYou need to consider bushing length (the threaded part), shaft length (the part that the knob slips over), and shaft style (split/knurled or smooth).

For the pot values, 500k volume with 250k tone sounded best to me. The 250k volumes were a bit warmer, and the 500k sounded a bit brighter and punchier. Also...both pots being 500k sounded a bit more mid-rangey than Id like.what did you settle on and why?
For volume pots and their tapers...oddly enough...I had the opposite feeling from my ears. From the sound samples I listened to...there's much less usable portions of the audio taper in my opinion. The audio volume seemed to have more silent space on the knob...which Id take to mean fine tuning would be a little less precise. It seemed like nothing happened until halfway through the turn...and then came a gradual rise.
Linear volume seemed to have less of that silent space....thus more usable space on the knob. However, the initial rise in volume at the beginning of the pot's turn was more abrupt. Because of this it seemed like medium and higher volumes can be dialed in easier since more of the knob is useful. But lower volumes seem like they didnt have as much usable range since the volume increase came out a bit quick at the start of the turn.
That all said, I wish I knew if what value pot was used with each particular taper. The available samples don't split that up.
