Potential 2 x 410HLF from SVTCL rig

Hey guys,

This is more of a technical question then a recommendation as I just want to know how I would go about setting the rig up.

I've never used a full stack before so I'm a noob in that sense.

However, I understand that the impedance may need to change, and that's start I suppose.

My question is, has anyone used this setup and how did they get it working?

For example:

- What impedance needs to be used (4 or 2 ohm)?
- How did you wire it? (mainly, I need to know this question as I've noticed there is only one speakon output, and I like using speakon cables...)

Help would be appreciated!

P.S. Just before everyone starts telling me about the 810HE, I am well aware of it's price, sound etc...I would get one but it would be a logistical nightmare. Having said that, I would be able to transport two 410HLF's

Why do you need two? Daisy the cabs and select 2ohm on the amp if they are 4ohm each hlf.

Very very loud with loads of sub frequency content. You better not be using PA with that.

As for ohms, that would be 2.

As for logistics, I've been moving two 410HEN cabs for over a decade, so I'm on board with two smaller cabs vs. one big one. I would be hesitant to go with two HLFs though...

I used to rock two 410hlf's and I was glad I got rid of them. WAYYYY too much low end come out of those cabs. Not enough midrange growl or punch no matter what I did.

Those cabs each weigh 95lb and they are a pain to move around. I think you would be better served with two lighter and not so deep sounding 410's.

2 ohm setup will work just fine with the CL. Just make sure to watch the low end content. Rolling the bass knob back would be very helpful....

Also, can simply use the jack speaker plug, as the power involved isn't excessive.
otherwise, speakons are wired pos to +1 & neg to -2 iirc

Hey, the guy wants 410hlf's.

Just set your head to 2 ohms and daisy chain the cabs if you really want speakons. Speakons aren't necessary, though.

If you like the sound of the SVT-410HLF it is just to hook up two of them and play. Please note! There are at least two different voicings of that cabinet. The older, US made ones have less mids than the more recent Asian ones. I think the current models work fine for me (playing traditional rock with 4 string Precision and 4 or 5 string Jazz) with a slight boost in the upper mids.

Should be in all of ampegs production line I would think. I had an 01' 810e that was said to have the darker speakers, though I found that the right about of treble could be EQ'd in, though the cab farted with any bass boost.

I've sure found newer 410hlf's to be brighter and more middy.

+1 to what the guys are saying, as a standalone the hlf can be awesome to get you more deep low end, but if you are gonna be stacking two of them, I would recommend something else, unless you've played the stack and thats what you are after...

I already own a 410HLF and love, so you are correct. Well aware of the EQ situation, I already have the bass at 4 with the treble at 6 cause that's the way I like it, and I get plenty of mids and highs out of the cab, probs cause it's one of the newish Asian builds!

I wasn't keen on mentioning this before, cause I know the nature of these forums, but the plan was to have flanking cabs around the drums. From our experience, having my amp right next to the lesser of my two guitarist's amps has greatly improved the sound coming from that side. So, that band was thinking about the option of flanking bass cabs to improve the other side. I was keen on getting another HLF cause it already works well with my other band and I wanted symmetry. Setup would go like this:

I don't why I typed all that out because I know I'm gonna get canned now. To be proactive, I'll just say the ideal in music is to experiment! And that's what I plan to do...so more helpful answer please, I don't want the scuttlebutt!

My old HLF had at least 2. They are parallel (I think's the correct term) so can be used to "daisy- chain" /connect another cab

Yeah, I had 2 of them - one US made, one from Vietnam - and they both had a pair of speakons and a piar of 1/4" jacks...

I really like the SVT-410HLF... since I really like alot of lows, and play primarily with a pick, that is one of the few cabs that give me enough low end without having to do alot of EQing... I'll probably own another - they make a great smaller option than my usual 610, 810, or 215 I play thru...

I've tried the same thing with flanking cabs, it works quite nicely for getting more definition across the stage. It can cause dead spots from phasing but for the most part it will probably enhance your stage monitoring and each of your guitarists will get an equal amount of bass instead of one getting blasted and the other not getting enough.

Like you said, experiment and see what works best for you
