Practicing on a 3/4 size bass

Playing a short-scale bass is not much different than playing at the upper frets of a long-scale bass. I don't get why people struggle switching back and forth unless the lower register of a long scale bass is too wide and/or the higher register of a short scale bass is too narrow.
Hands
No one’s hands are the same.
I own ls, ms, ss and mikro
On ls I play simndl then past 5th fret I play ofpf
On ms, ss & mikro I play ofpf

ARTHRITIS is also a factor for some people and ss minimizes their pain.

Some peeps can’t stretch the spread from the index finger to the pinky like others can.

We’re all different…but brother, the great spirit made us all.
