Practicing with drums

Hey all, I'd really like to practice with drums to work on pocket playing and grooving, but I don't have access to a drummer :( I can get a copy of Hammerhead drum machine, but I also don't have access to beat making skills :ninja: Is there someplace I can get pre-made drum beats that I can play a long with, or would it be better to practice that as well and perhaps get a better sense of rhythm? :help:

While there are places that you can get pre-programmed beats, personally, I think it's very valuable to learn to make your own beats. IMO, every bass player should either learn how to play drums (not to a pro level, but you should be able to play well enough to perform some simple songs) OR learn how to program a drum machine.

Just my 2 cents.

I don't know if you prefer hearing a drum beat, but you can work on your groove with a metronome also. I am a drummer also. I use the metronome for practice on both drums and bass.

Metronome is great for working on timing (which is definitely something I need to work on) but I was more looking for something I can use to working on getting into and staying in the pocket. I have almost no experience with that.
