I've gone through many Fender basses always finding quality problems that I didn't like. I've had 4 new American Standards, along with a variety of MIMs and CIJs. I tried the Mustang two times and was disappointed with bad fret work with one and a nut that was cut too low on the other.
I tried another Mustang back in May. I still have it. I've got to say that it is a great bass. I find myself reaching for it instead of my Sterling. The quality on this one example is impeccable. The tone is outstanding. Plus the short scale is a real joy to play. I've probably been through buying 10 Fender basses to finally find one I like. I also got it for $100-$120 less than the normal price. It's a keeper, like my Sterling.
