Praise music - little help needed.

Judging from the OPs preferences that does not seem the genre he is playing in. However if he is in a crossover church I would make it a study site.

I would also check out their keyboard and organ room

They reference all genres at that site although it seems to be urban gospel based.

You've got opportunities to really tap into your emotions and creativity on your instrument. How does one capture the majesty of the throne of God in a bass line?

I was just listening to a beautiful Chris Tomlin's song, "Holy Forever."
(The very beginning of the melody in Verse has reminded Mike and the Mechanics - The Living Years.)
It's a simple - very diatonic - and very melodic praise song with lots of simple slash chords, like C/E or F/A, etc...
The soft keys and strings really lift that song up to Heaven with powerful crescendo.
Just an angelic rendition of the song!



Here is another live version of the same song with some "ja(H)zzy tendencies" by the keyboard player.
The keyboard player's added jazzy chromatisms unfavorably affect my listening experience, but...
I can't understand why the bass player starts some "arpeggio" exercises around 3:55 in the video.
I know that a lot of TB members play Praise.
How would your band leader react to that kind of arpeggiation of the song?
Do you like that arpeggiation?
