Pre/Power type rig?

I cant speak for others, but I have a "seperates" rig consisting of a Sansamp BDDI preamp and a QSC GX3 power amp as a back up or secondary rig to mimick my regular 80+ lbs SVT head. I would say that it does sound great, similar to a tube amp I guess but much quicker. It seems the SVT responds to playing a bit differently than the BDDI+GX3 setup. The SVT, to my ears sounds more open where the BDDI+GX3 sounds more punchy, bassy and tighter. I wouldnt say one is better than the other at this point, though I am biast towards the SVT because the BDDI+GX3 is a new thing for me.

Choose your cabinet(s), then choose an appropriate power amp. Contrary to myth, pro power amps--good ones, anyway--do not "color" your sound.

I have used the Crown 602 with an Sansamp RBI and it was killer. I went thru an eden 410 XLT and had rave reviews of my sound.

Then I jumped to QSC PLX 2402 with a Demeter HBP1 with 2 410 Mesa Boogie Powerhouse cabs. Unbelievable sound.

Know I use the QSC PLX 2402 with a Line 6 PODxt live bridged mono in an ampeg 810e cab. This is very versatile. The amo only weighs 22 lbs. and bridged at 4 ohms is just crazy wattage

I would use the other channel for maybe biamping in the future. (Maybe a channel for clean sound and another channel for effects.)
Plus, to use it in stereo I better use 4ohm cabs.
Maybe bridging is something to consider, but on the XLS serie I'm not sure if that's a good idea to go bridged at 4ohms.

I can get a Hartke 410TP used for a good price. I'm not sure if I'm going to buy that one or get a new XL cab.
Advantage of the TP is that it is lighter.
But the TP is disontinued I think.
I still have to think about that.

I'd recommend the XL cabs if you gotta have Hartke. The TP's are lighter because they aren't as solid as the XLs. I'm sure some people have TP's that rock, but they are low cost alternatives to the XLs. I'd probably tell ya' to get something besides Hartke anyway. Pick the best cabs you can afford and then find an amp that will give you the headroom to run them cleanly...

It's going to be Harkte 410XL cabs and a Crown XLS 602 for me. (I will not bother with the used TP cab).
