Preamp Help - Peavey Grind

So a couple of weeks ago I bought a used Peavey Grind 6 string bass. Gotta admit, for the little money that I gave for it I'm really impressed with the playability. I'm definitely going to switch out the tuners, the stock ones just are no good.

I think I'm also finding out what a lot of other people have about these basses. The pickups aren't horrible and adding a preamp can really bring out the tone on the bass. I've been playing for many...many...years....and I've swapped out passive pickups/pots/jacks in my basses for years but I've never added a preamp to existing pickups. What I'm looking for is a preamp that will accentuate the more modern tone of the Grind. I have basses that give me a good Precision/Jazz sound and I also have a Bongo for the more heavy stuff.

I'd also like to be able to switch between active/passive just because I'd like to be able to bypass if the battery goes dead and I'd also be somewhat curious to hear the bass with and without a preamp to see how much it effects the tone.

Anyone have a suggestion as to a good preamp for this bass? I've been digging and there's a lot of options but I'm not sure where to start.

Audere transparent and you can get 4 bands . Inexpensive and impressive.
