Preamp options for Passive Pickups

Hey hey

I’m currently awaiting a set of Passive pickups for my Ibanez SR5000. (pickups approx. 8.5k ohm).

Are my preamp options limited, given that the pickups are PASSIVE? Or can it be said that “anything is possible”?

Most preamps I've seen will work fine with either active or passive pickups. The main thing to look for in the specs is the input impedance. If it's several hundred kOhms or more, they should be fine with passives.

Yes. I quote from Noll:

"The NOLL TCM 3 P onboard preamp can be combined with both active and passive pickups."

All of the aftermarket preamps that I’ve used (EMG, Aguilar, Bartolini, Duncan, Audere, John East, JTEX, Lusithand) work fine with passive pickups. I think you’d have to go out of your way to find one that doesn’t.
