Preamp tuning jazz bass plus V 1992

This is my jazz bass plus V . There is the cross (black) to setup the preamp (mid ?). Does someone know it ? And how to set up it ? Txs

It’s probably an output gain.
Plug your bass into the amp you intend to use, turn the internal potentiometer fully clockwise.Pay attention to if your amp clips/distorts at “typical amp settings”. Back off (ccw) the potentiometer in the bass as necessary.

Active, with Presetable Mid Boost – The bass and treble tone controls are active. There is also a presetable amount of boost added to the midrange frequencies. Your bass was factory preset for maximum midrange boost. To adjust the amount of mid boost, remove the back cover plate and adjust the miniature potentiometer, R19, with an appropriate screwdriver. The amount of mid boost can be adjusted from approximately 1dB to 8dB. Maximum mid boost occurs at full clockwise rotation. Be careful not to adjust it beyond its natural rotational limits.

The “cross” is a trim potentiometer.

Yeah, what they said. You can get a bit more boost by turning the black pot. Personally, I think it's best left in the mid-boost position, where Kubicki sets it.

It was posted above, from the Kubicki website. They still manufacture these pre's to install in their made to order Kubicki's, or to sell as replacements, if your's fails. The boost range is plus 1 to 8db in the mids, they do not specify the exact freqs affected. It comes set in the middle, so let's say about 5db? It's a good level for the boost, sounds nice without being obnoxious, so I suggested "leave it there." Less isn't enough, more is perhaps too much. If you want more than that, get a Ray.
