preamp with chisonics?

Has anyone paired a preamp with lakland/hanson chisonics? Which one? Good? I have the CS series and am just looking to have more eq options.

I have a set of ChiSonics on the way that I will be dropping in to my Lakland 5501 with a Bartolini 5.2 NTMB pre. I'll let you know how it sounds.

I'm curious how they'd sound with a nordstrand preamp.

IMO the ChiSonics with a Bartolini NTMB pre were no a good match. The highs were very subdued and the pairing was just simply muddy. An Aguilar, Audere, Nordstrand or some other pre may pair better.

However, if I were to do it again, I would go passive, which is where the ChiSonics excel. If you need a little extra behind them, an MXR M81 does nicely.
