But:

1. Is it any good?
2. Does it sound like a ProPer P?
3. Is there any Point? Sticking an extra PickuP on a P seems to defeat the PurPose of P.

I've only played the Jazz version, but:

It was very well built and very light. played like a dream and sounded great although a bit thin.

Adding a jazz pickup to a P makes it more versatile, but you don't have to use it.

It was a very all-around good feel kinda bass. The additional J pup is really just for versatility to the thing. It was fairly lightweight and had a classic P bass feel - but better, I guess.

+1 I'm sorry but I just don't like a P/J. Sorry that's all I can add to this discussion too. Just go for a standard P

I tried one once - the "natural" finish. Beautiful bass, lightweight, typical Fender Japan quality. Loved the binding.

The sound, however, was to my ears a good bit cleaner than your usual growly, slightly dirty P tone. With the J pickup on, it had a really crisp, modern sound that was more Marcus Miller Jazz than P bass. I personally dug it, but for a "traditional" P sound I´d recommend looking elsewhere.

I play a Fender Aerodyne Jazz bass. Love it. The J pup adds some fatness to the P pup tone. You can add more J for grit and grind if needed. I've upgraded most of the hardware: Hipshot Ultralight tuning machines, BadAss II bridge, Seymour Duncan pups and harness, and Status groundwounds. The bass sounds terrific, is lightweight, aerodynamic and cool.

I had the jazz version, it was a great bass, I ended up putting in Duncan Quarter pounders in it, which for me was a big mistake for me. It had a slight buzz before the QPs, but after the QPs it went from a slight buzz, to a 60 cycle hum. If I had to do over again, I would of replaced the pick-ups with Duncan Antiquity ones. Otherwise , good quality instrument .
