Double Bass Prelude to Endgame by Philip Glass

Has anyone ever played this piece by Philip Glass before for bass and timpani? I'm scheduled to play it in May, and I ran through the whole piece today without any repeats and it gave me major tendinitis. Anyone else had to deal with this piece, and what have you done to help make music out of it?

I didn't know this piece existed until I ran across it in some catalog and ordered a copy. My advice would be to NOT run through it again. Ever. Just perfom it.
If you didn't know it was supposed to be played before a Beckett play, you'd think it was a joke. You should both dress in tails, be as serious as possible. If you are old enough to drink, do so after the piece.
