It's a beautiful bass that I never use (turns out that I'm partial to my Fender P Frankenstein fretless), so maybe someone else can. It's fitted with LaBella tapewounds, and eveything is in flawless shape, save for a screw that's missing from the truss cover. And, the hardshell case is not original, but it fits perfectly. Weight on the bathroom scale is 10.0 lbs even. I'd consider a trade in lieu of cash. In particular, I am looking for a Cali76-TX compressor, but am also interested in acquiring a good short scale bass. If you're interested, there's a fantastic review/demo by Ed Friedland here: Some quick specs: Body: mahogany, Acoustically chambered Neck: 5-pc; Hard maple with Walnut stringers Neck Shape: D-shaped; Satin Finish Neck Joint: Deep-Set; 5-bolt Nut width: 1.68” Truss Rod: Adjustable Scale Length: 34” Fingerboard: rosewood with pearloid dot inlays Fingerboard Radius: 14 Neck Pickup: NanoMag™ low-impedance Bridge Pickup: NanoMag™ low-impedance Bridge: rosewood with string-thru body design $775, buyer pay shipping (CONUS).
Hey GRoast, The string spacing is just a little less than 19mm. Though it doesn't look like it in the attached photo, the end of the ruler is centered on that E string.
Man...I know it's Ed Friedland, and he can make any bass that's in tune/has a decent setup/is going thru a decent rig sound good, but that might be one of the best-sounding basses I have ever heard, not to mention it LOOKS amazing too... Is this model still in production? Anyone know if they made (and/or still make) a 'blank plank' version?
Wow, if I hadn’t just sprung for a fretless Ric, I’d be punching in my PayPal password right now. GLWTS.
Bump and price drop from $850 down to $775 in hopes that someone will see this and think, "It will be mine. Oh yes, it will be mine."
Would also consider a trade. I've currently got my eye out for a cool short scale bass. I'm also interested in the Cali76 bass comps. Drop a line if you've got one or the other and are interested in working a trade!
Given that this bass is still here, I can only assume that most other TBers (A) have more discipline and/or (B) even less discretionary spending money than myself...and/or (C) aren't in the market for a chambered fretless...
