Problems with bass?

Well I just got my new Mike dirnt bass. It has Qp's in it.

So I was going on vacation and the bass came a day before I left. So I played, it worked fine nothing wrong (with pups). SO I go on vacation and take it with me, I played it unplugged. It never fell or hit anything so...

I get back and plug it into my amp and, it doesn't work. After trying 3 cords on 2 diff amps I''ve decided that something came apart in the wiring.

Tell me what could've happened...

My bad! I already did that and didn't say that! Sorry. It looks like everything is connected.

I guess this means you checked the wiring out for the jack as well? If that's okay, check your soldering for something that may be loose. If I remember correctly, it's a passive bass. But if it is not, it could be the preamp. If it is passive, could be something amiss with the pickup(s).

And no, the grounding to the bridge coming loose would not keep you from getting any output from the bass.

As LCW said, these are pretty simple basses. If you're not getting any output, there's a loose connection somewhere. But just to be sure, have you checked these same cables and amps with a different bass?

If you can't find any obviously loose solder joints, check the circuit for any instances of the hot side shorting out to ground. 99% of the "silent bass" problems I've ever come across were the result of a positive pot terminal or jack terminal coming in contact with shielding or a ground wire. If you can post close-up pics of the wiring, we may be able to point it out.

I have not! But the 'rents (as jord calles em) are asleep so I must try tomrrow!

ooo.. thats tough. time to bust out the soldering kit i guess.

and if you can't solder then you can buy a presoldered p-bass wiring kit with varitone on evil bay for like 90 space bux
