Prog Rock albums with impressive bass

Three years, seven pages and no mention of Hugh Hopper(Soft Machine)or Richard Sinclair(Hatfield and the North)? Amazing! Sad! Canterbury is to prog as Memphis is to rockabilly. Hugh was the daddy of them all, and did a lot to utilize fuzz on bass as a texture rather than an occasional blast of distortion. Sinclair, although an understated player, navigated non-stop complex time and chord changes AND sang at the same time. Honorable mention to Mike Howlett(Gong)and Bill MacCormick(Matching Mole, Quiet Sun, 801, Eno, Phil Manzanera, etc).

Pink Floyd is not prog, just as any Kraut rock bands are not prog.

Magma - K.A (2004)

Apart from using an invented language in their music, everything by that bunch of French maniacs has awesome basslines. Their 1975 live album, Hhaï, has wonderful fuzz bass delivered by Bernard Paganotti.

They're still alive and kicking and their bass player since 1996, Philippe Bussonnet, is the BEST bassist in prog these days, second to none.
