I can totally, unequivocally, and confidently promise you that the good dancers got their skills through constant practice, group interaction, respect for those who already mastered the skills, and hard work. It didn't come from the price of their shoes because Chucks only cost 40 bucks and it certainly didnt happen from arguing about it on TalkPop/Lock.

The one's who suck at it aren't pro musicians and shouldn't be doing it on stage. This is one the roots of the problem! Venues are hiring bands so bad they shouldn't be gigging in the first place! Wanna hear good solid, non machine gun like slap, go see a pro band. A REAL pro band with good musicians all around. Stop letting these amateurs and GC/Youtube musicians dictate your opinions about it or any music for that matter. You just can't put amateur and pro musicians in the same hand. Just stop it already!

You have discovered the early beginnings of Rock and Roll. And your comment reinforces my post in another thread that we take our music with us through live. By today's standards, yes dumb and funny, but at that time the kids thought it was the coolest thing going and the parents were appalled and certain it would send them all to hell.

I knew about that a long time ago. It was dumb and funny then, and it still is. The point was slapping - it's been happening a long time too. As a matter of fact, that's the kind of slap bass I play. Slapping a plank isn't as much fun.
