The neck pocket fit nicely. There was room to move, i.e., it doesn't fit in there super tightly, but it's close enough that you know it's meant for it.
The pickguard fit fine.
This bass has styling cues that are all "against the norms" and I love it. It has a shiny neck and fingerboard, too, which is the opposite of my 93 SR4. Having the 2 of them is like "Spy vs Spy" to a small degree.
The necks weigh about the same and it's got the fancier MUSICMAN stamped tuners. Since ULs would require more drilling and filling, I'm not really interested in those. And I've had the HB1 tuners before. Great stuff, but not so much lighter that I noticed much of a difference.
My initial goal with the build was to keep costs down and have a functional instrument. It's definitely met that criteria!
The whole bass weighs 9lb, 10oz, so it's average for a Ray weight. I have no problem with the fit or balance, it's a fantastic feel. Highly recommended to do one of these if you can, I think you'll be very happy with the results.
