It looks like your bass is two tone sunburst, while mine is 3TS. Is it the light or is it 2 tone?

FWIW, absolutely everything I installed needed modification. The pickguard, the pots, the cavity routing, the body pickup routing, heck, even the hole for the darn jack needed routing. LOL

I also want to do a little more filing on the J route, and i will probably fill the screw holes and redrill. They are far from straight. I’m probably the only one that will ever notice, but until i fix it, I’ll always notice.

I feel ya on that one. I tried multiple pickups in this bass. I drilled, filled, and redrilled three times. Toothpick and wood glue, then used the Dremel to make it flush. Wait overnight, drill again for the new pups.
I have a Craftsman drill with a level, so I can get away without using a drill press.

So it’s 99% done. I’ve cleaned up the control cavity and everything fits nice and snug now. Sanded and put a tung oil finish on the neck with 5 coats of gloss poly on the headstock. Custom waterslides on the headstock and fretboard decals that I wasn’t sure I’d like till I put them on. I freaking love them. They’re a metallic finish and they look absolutely stunning when they catch the light. Switched my output Jack to the front which is my preference. Not a fan of barrel jacks. Also added a ZeroMod thumb rest and a Hipshot string retainer. Last things to do are put on some new strings (ordered some GHS Pressurewound), and I need to find the right bottle cap to cover the hole left by the defunct barrel jack. I’m thinking either Arrogant Bastard or Dead Guy Ale.

My daughter helped on this whole project from start to finish. We had a lot of fun and we learned a few things. I started with a cheap-o off the rack Squier and now have something special to me that I’m proud of. It sounds great and feels fantastic. Could I ever break even money wise? I doubt it. But this was never about an investment. I got everything out of this that I could have hoped for, and this one will not be up for sale.
