Pronunciation question about Audere

I pronounce it Awe-dare or Oh-dare or something in between those two. BTW, you would have gotten a reply sooner if you properly named your thread title something about your question. Wouldn't it make more sense to title your thread "How do you pronounce Audere?" rather than "stupid question"?
True, and I thought about that after I posted it. I checked, but there doesn't seem to be a way to change to title.

I've heard it pronounced...by someone who should know...just like the girl's name "Audrey". Phonetically "Aw-jree". Perhaps this person was shortening it from "Aw-duh-ree"?
I had previously assumed pronunciation was "Aw-deer".

Okay...I was curious enough to call them and ask. The answer is:

Audere is Latin for "to dare" (not a surname or name at all). They choose to pronounce it themselves "Aw-Dare", but say that several people have tried to correct them with various pronunciations.
Since all pronunciations in Latin, of which there are no living native speakers, are often disputed, there really is no definitively correct answer.

That's how I've been pronouncing it, though.
Ah, I was right, I think....I prefer to pronounce things as the company themselves pronounce it. That is what I feel is the "right" way when it comes to brand names.

well ive always thought of it as like the name with a slight twist on the 're' so in ENGLISH (not usa) phonics Au-der-ay or Or-der-ay (second one more in line for usa dialect)
just looked on google, it appears to still be used in Italian and is along the lines as mentioned above as daring.

Yeah. Based on one common agreement (or at least according to how my Latin teacher pronounces it), in Latin, because it's a 2nd conjugation infinitive verb, it would have a long e and be pronounced aw-DEE-ray. The more important thing here, however, is how Audere pronounces it.
I pronounce it as oh-there. Well first, I'm not a native speaker so I am the last one to count on this subject. Second, the french is my first foreign language and my friends tell all the time that I should stop stupidly pronouncing english words like a french guy
