kruger with the umlaut is pronounced kh-roy-guh in german.
What about Sadowsky? Or Drozd?
I didn't correct him, but it's pronounced 'Noy-min'.
I've wondered this for a while, how do you pronounce some of those company names?
Names like:Ibanez
Well, they obviously wanted to imply the Spanish connection by choosing that name - but the guys at Sam Ash will probably look at you like you're a Martian anyway. Try saying it the Spanish way, but then through a Japanese accent, maybe? This is a tough one. I almost started my own thread on it. I am Bi-lingual (Latin American Spanish), my wife is a Mexican native and speaks no English. She and I would both pronounce this "E-bahn-yez" (Think former Philadelphia left fielder Raul Ibanez). I realize that the name has become "Americanized", and most people (Including the company itself, from what I can tell) pronounce it "Eye-ben-ez".
I just wonder how pretentious the good folks at Sam Ash are going to think I am when I walk in and ask about an "E-bahn-yez" sr650. I imagine I would be labeled a 'hipster-doofus' for saying it like that, but in my mind, when I see the word written, that's how it sounds.
(maybe I should start a poll and see how other TB'ers say it . . . . )
There is still a "t" sound in Gretsch--Gretsch is 'Gresh'
You could probably do a search and find a similar thread with all those same names in it.
Anyway though this is how I say them:
Rick-in-bocker
Eye-bah-nez (proper spanish pronunciation would be Ee-bahn-ez)
Ah-gee-lar (it's not "ah-gwee-lar" because in spanish the 'u' is silent in the cases of "gui" and "gue")
Sheck-ter (that's all I've ever heard..I'm sure it would be more guttural in Germany)
Gally-en Crew-ger, I've also heard the similar Gal-yen crew-ger
That's how I say 'em.
brad cook
The correct pronunciation for "Nady" is "Nudge". I was stunned when I first learned it. I doubt the company uses that pronunciation and probably goes with Naddy, or rhymes-with-lady.

i think the german pronounciation of kruger with umlaut is closer to krerr-ger.
i always say Sadowsky as sad-OF-skee, but always wondering.....

Everything is more guttural in Germany.
