Double Bass Protec deluxe bass bag - anybody used it?

My Gollihur bag has worn through on several edges after being slid in and out of my truck for 5 years.

Does anyone have experience with this bag?

I owned the Gollihur previously and quite liked it.

It's not a straight comparison, but I bought the lower level Protec (in a rush) for my Chadwick, and while it is serviceable it's not my fav. I just use it to hop around locally when it suits.

I did notice that the bags seem to fit smaller too. Years ago, I actually bought the Protec prior to the Gollihur for my Hofner and it didn't fit the length. It's quite tight on my Chadwick too (rib depth and bridge in this case). Couldn't really get any tighter and still be usable. FWIW, I really don't like the centre zipper either. Preferred the side zip. The Gollihur bag was a cinch to put on, this one's a bit of a struggle.

When our source for the "Pro Bags" dried up (still working on that one) I got a Protec C313 Deluxe Bag in to see if it might be a viable replacement for it. It's a decent bag, but the fact that you can get it everywhere (including Amazon) made it an impractical choice, considering what I'd have to pay for it - to be competitively priced, it would not be worth my trouble (especially after factoring shipping costs to and fro.)

It does seem a bit smallish, as it fit our standard Estle Louis basses pretty closely, so it would be tight (or not fit) on some beefier instruments, I'd think. Has dense 25mm padding, handles have grips and single rivets to hold them on (okay) and seems like it might hold up well.

I've got that brand new one if anyone here wants it, contact me off list.

About eight years ago, although it hasn't had much use. My Upton Prof is a bit bigger than the usual 3/4 and with 25mm padding in the bag it was always a tight fit when zipping up. So the flimsy plastic slider just gave up. I now have two bags that I got from Thomas Martin who is 25 mins from me. Nothing fancy but the handles are exactly in the right places and it's light enough not to add a lot of weight to the heft. I cannibalised the wheels off the Upton bag before it went on the fire and fixed them on one of the Martin bags. Works very well.

No worries, Thanks for getting back to me. I've been holding off - partly waiting for our dollar to recover a few points.
Eric at Upton says their Deluxe will fit my Englehardt "like a glove". It sounds like they have been improving the quality over the years. I think that's what I'm going to go with. (The duct tape on my old case doesn't look very professional)
