PSA 1.1 vs PSA-1 Pro Tools plugin

My band was in the studio this weekend doing some preliminary mixing and I asked the engineer to try and dial in a more aggressive bass tone, somewhere in the neighborhood of Pantera. I pretty much recorded with a dry signal and it sounded kind of bland to me in the mix with 2 super heavily distorted guitars. He ran the bass through the Sansamp PSA-1 plug-in for Pro Tools and it sounds like a rabid dog in a nuclear explosion; really, really aggressive (and awesome).
I dig my tone as-is but I do wish I could find the right OD unit to complete the picture. Maybe this is it?

Anyone have experience with the actual physical unit and the plug-in? I assume I could get a similar tone from the unit since that is what it's emulating?. Anyone using the PSA 1 currently?
