Hey all, I've got a gig this weekend while my car's getting repaired. Is taking a bus a reliable option? I plan on leaving earlier than early, but I'm worried about the driver even letting me on. Its an early gig, at 9 am.
Would appreciate some advice- Chicago's a brutal city.

I have taken public transit with a bass on numerous occasions in numerous cities, and not had a problem with it yet. It doesn't take up any more space than some of those monstrous strollers people feel the need to use now, so I don't see them turning you away. If avoiding rush hour is possible, I would highly recommend it.

Weekend ride that early shouldn't be a problem. I have taken the bus w/ my DB here but am not real crazy about it, since the new buses are pretty cramped. If you can ride the El instead, go to the far end of the platform and get on the 1st car where you can usually get a space near the door (wheelchair section.)

Or, just take a cab.
