Pullin' the trigger on a GK Fusion S 800 210 combo

Very excited! After much thought am pulling the trigger and getting a GK Fusion S 800 210 combo to replace my old GK 1001/210. The old combo is starting to fail - I suspect the bi-amp out put - it goes high mid/high sqwonky and then the yellow warning light on the on/off light comes on and it shuts down. I can slap it and it comes back on, but that ain’t right. Am putting into the shop, but the nearest authorized shop is a 3 hour drive.

This old combo weighs in at 80# and while do*able to lift, I am getting older, and the new GK combo weighs half that. Also that this Fusion combo has a tube pre-amp option, where the 1001 is strictly solid state.

The only feature I see I don’t care for is having the knobs up on top in the back instead of on the face of the amp. I have a 410 MBE Neo extension cab (800w @ 8Ω) I sometimes use in conjunction. This will make the stack about 4 feet tall. I stand 6 feet so really not a problem, but wonder why a lot of combos are signed like this instead of knobs in front?

I just picked up the Fusion 800 Neo 2x12 combo. Fantastic. I think you will love what you are getting. I am not sure why they put the knobs and input on top. I also bought a 2x12 Neo extension cabinet. I am only 5'6". When they are stacked I need a step stool to things clearly. haha

I love the clean face look with controls at the back. Enjoy. My older GK RB is going pretty strong so I'm not ready to take a leap on the combo.

They design them this way to protect the knobs so they don't get broken off and the preamp knobs are part of the entire preamp/power amp module unit on the back of the amp. Also, most people transport their amps with the speakers facing down to protect them, knobs on the front would certainly not last long before breaking off in transport.

I like the sound of the new Fusion 800. A pair of 2x12 would sound massive. How do you find the tweeter on these cabs? Can you adjust the level and tweak the passive tone to get a smooth extended treble?

So far I really like this set up. While it's not the old bi-amp GK set up, it is probably a more powerful EQ, to my ears anyways. There is a hi-mid/hi-cut control and a treble/presence control. On top of that all of the EQ controls have 2 settings. Standard seems to be the more classic GK tone. Pushing any of the EQ buttons engages parameters that seem to bring about a more modern tone for that defined parameter. So there are a ton of different EQ setting combinations. And yes.... I find the tweeter to be smooth. I do not find it harsh.

I have a 212 combo. It goes to every gig. Love it.

Yes! I am still using my Fusion 210 combo and really enjoying it! It's a TONE MONSTER and plenty loud - even at outdoor events. Have a 410 GK neo extension cab, but haven't had to use it.
Very versatile tone wise. "Normal" channel thru a four knob EQ and each EQ knob has two different voicings = standard hi-fi or a beefier tone. Can get the GK growl on this channel.
"Overdrive" channel can bring a palette of distortion colors with one knob controlling deep tones and another controlling highs - and then running this signal thru the 4 band EQ. This channel gets gritty [mid-lo dirt] and grind [hi-mid clank].
I run the EQ pretty flat - may roll off the lo bass end a bit depending on the room - but outside she runs flat; and depending on the bass guitar cut or boost certain frequencies by engaging/disengaging one of the EQ knobs. White runs sterile, blue runs more "rounded" is about the best I can describe it.
Really a fun unit! Have gotten nothing but compliments from sound guys and other bass players even my drummer who is a pretty decent bass player in his own right.
Nice lightweight to tote.

The GK website has some good demos to show exactly what all of these tone knobs can do tone wise. Better than any sound clips I could provide. Unfortunately it's just the Fusion 800 S head and not the combo, but the sounds are the same coming thru GK neo speaks. Check it out

I was looking on the 2x12 fusion. I kinda like the idea of a combo and simplicity. How is it holding up? I heard some complaints about loose pots. Any durability concerns? How is that top handle working for ya for transport.

Mine is working great. No loose pot issues for me. The top handle is a bit meh but it gets it done. The cabinet is just big enough to make the handle a bit awkward. Two thumbs up from me.
