Pups and strings at the same time?

Hi Guys,
I’m getting ready to put in TV Jones Thunder’ Trons in my Gretsch G220. I’m replacing the factory strings with LaBella Deep Talkin Flats. My strings will be in tonight, but the PUPs are held up due to factory being out of stock. Should I wait to do the strings when I get the new PUPs? Will taking the strings back off ruin the strings or does it matter?
