push pull pots for volume?

okay, so basically, i wanted to put a set of P&J Pickups on my jazz bass, and i've decided i only want one volume knob. This can easily be done with a standard pot, but i would like to be able to control the volume of both pickups seperately. Is there a way that i can control the volume of both pickups using one pot? I was thinking wiring a push pull pot so the P pickup is down and the jazz pickup was up?

Thanks guys, let me know any suggestions/

is this for a blend knob, or push pull?

Volume pot with push/pull pickup selector.
In the down position, the bridge pickup is wired to the output, while the pot controls the neck pickup's volume. In the up position, the neck pickup is wired to the output, while the pot controls the bridge pickup's volume. Or you can swap the pickup hots around to get the opposite configuration.

The problem with that config is that you can't enable both pickups simultaneously.

A push pull pot is simply a normal, single pot with a switch connected to the shaft.

A blend pot will allow you to select just one pickup or both, but you can't control the output volume with it. You will only blend the two pickups, hence the name "blend pot". You can't mute the output.

The simplest solution will be a concentric pot. Those have two independent pots. (One for each pickup, just like two normal volume pots). The knob will be two-part. One wider bottom piece that control one of the pots and a smaller knob on top of that to control the other pot.
