Putting jazz pickups into soapbar shells?

I thinking that I'm a single coil (humcancelled) kinda guy after all and I want to put a set of Bartolini 59J1s into one of my basses with Bartolini P2 soapbar routes so I've got a few questions:

1) Where can I get empty Bartolini P2 sized shells?

2) Once I get the 59J1s (and try them out) would it make sense to place them in the empty shells and fill the gaps with super glue? The only real downside I could see is if I wanted to sell them.

Just looking for opinions.

EDIT: And before anyone jumps in to suggest Nordstrand Big Singles/Splits and/or Fat Stacks, I'm not interested. They're not bad but Bartolinis give me the tone I want in most basses.

Normally you could get them from here:

Got Guitar Parts? : Guitar Jones USA

But he's been out of stock for a while. They also aren't $3,000...more like $3.

You might have a problem getting the long bridge Jazz pickup to fit in the cover because they are almost the same length, and the Jazz pickup will be in the way of the mounting screw tunnels. But if you move it slightly towards the two screw side, and remove some of the cover in the corner of the J (which may, or may not be a safe thing to do) it will just fit. But then it might be too off center for a split pickup design.

The Bart 59J1 looks like this on the inside:

But then of course you wont be able to sell them.

One alternative would be to mount the Bart into the soapbar cavity, using the usual four screws, and then simply sit the soapbar cover on top and attach it with double stick tape. This way you can cut away the mounting screw tunnels in the P2 cover so that you Don't have to alter the Barts, and it will look like there are soapbars in the bass.

If you were doing a permanent installation you would want to fill the cover with epoxy. It would take an awful lot of super glue to do that, and it doesn't dry well when it's too thick.

Bart can custom make those, but you will have to wait for them.

Now if you want a nice growly Jazz tone with no hum in a P2 cover, I'd say check out my narrow sidewinders. ;)
